Symantec Security Licence Programme

Overview:

The Symantec Security Licence Programme is for enterprise security software in companies of any size.

Agreement Terms:

2 licensing options are available; the Value Programme, on a transactional basis and the Elite Programme, on a contractual plan.

Value Programme:

A transactional plan that provides incentives for orders from one server or ten desktop licences upwards with discounts for purchases of multiple product types within a product family. It is a certificate-based program for small to medium sized companies. Customers purchase a media pack and the number of licences required and receive a licence certificate directly from Symantec

Elite Programme:

A contractual plan that provides a consistent price band over the term of the contract. The Commit option provides two-year volume discounts via an up-front purchasing commitment and the Forecast two-year purchasing model minimises initial outlay.

Requirements:

There are 8 band levels with a minimum entry level of only 1 point for selected products and 10 for all others.

Value Entry Rules

  • Every line on the purchase order must meet the minimum entry requirement (10 licences or 1 S Band licence for selected products only)
  • Each product determines its own banding unless using Mix and Match (see below).

Mix and Match Rules

  • Products in the same product family can be contained in one order
  • The total number of licences in the same product family must meet the minimum entry requirement (10 licences: 5 x NAV, 2 x SAVEE 8.0, 3 x Upgrade SAVEE 8.0 = 10 licences Band A etc).

Eligibility:

Businesses of any size are eligible for Symantec licensing and there is special pricing available for government bodies and educational institutes.

Maintenance & Upgrades:

Gold Maintenance is available for the Value Program and is a requirement for the Elite Program. Gold Maintenance includes Upgrade Insurance, security content updates where applicable and Gold technical support for most products. It is available in one or two year increments. Maintenance includes Upgrade Insurance and Gold Technical Support. Updates are sent via Live Update providing virus definitions that are downloadable from the Internet. Patches and upgrades are sent during the period covered. Gold Maintenance is sold via the Value Licensing Program. Platinum Technical Support is sold as an Upgrade from Gold Maintenance. Maintenance can be renewed within sixty days of expiry.

Installation:

Media kits must be purchased separately.

The Symantec Education Agreement - Subscription

This allows customers to "run" specific Symantec software, or any successor product upgrades on all the PCs and servers owned or leased in their education establishment for a 1 or 2 year period. If the customer chooses not to renew they must delete all the software licensed under the Education Agreement. Gold Maintenance, providing Upgrade Insurance, security updates whee applicable and technical support is included.

Gold Maintenance is available for all products within the Symantec Educational Program. Gold Maintenance includes Upgrade Insurance, security content updates where applicable and Gold technical support for most products. Offered as a one year term, with additional 2nd year extension available, plus one and two year renewals, Gold Maintenance ensures that customers receive the maximum value and technical support they require for their Symantec enterprise security software solutions.

What are the key benefits of the Education Agreement for customers?

A comprehensive, annually renewable licensing agreement with minimal purchase requirements.

Simple and flexible subscription licensing.

Customers are licensed to run any version of specific products, including product upgrades released during the agreement term.

Tiered price for non-perpetual licenses covering all institution computers.

Three discount bands.

Gold Maintenance, providing Upgrade Insurance, security updates where applicable and technical support, is included.

The only prerequisite for the purchase of a subscription is that one of the Security products is a qualifying purchase. I.e. in order to buy Ghost subscription, an AntiVirus subscription must also be puchased.
